Preparing For A Family Camping Trip

Family Camping Trip

Looking for a memorable time to spend with your family? Imagine the nice summer breeze blowing calmly into your face. As you smell the hint of wood, flowers, and clean air around you. Then you realize smell the burning firewood with the scent of food flowing through your nose. Now that's a picture perfect camping trip if it is planned accordingly and well. Here's a few tips to enhance your camping experience!

Step 1⇛ Planning
Make sure you have a plan first! Also have a plan B in the back of your head, because it could be very useful. Without the need to plan, you will be constantly going back to the drawing board. So began by choosing your location of where you would like to camp. In the year 2017 we are now able to "google" everything, so began by searching up five star camping sites if you are picky or if could be just a common ground camp site. After figuring out the location of the camp, find the direction to the area and make sure you reserve a spot to stay at the site. Next you will have to plan what your budget is going to be like. For a good experience camping, you should buy the needed supplies and food.

Step 2 ⇛ Food
Going camping with a family is a wonderful event. It is not about survival, but rather quality time with your love ones. Therefore set a budget of how much food is needed on this exciting trip. Start by marking the days you are staying at the camp site and decide how much food is require to feed your hungry family.

Step 3 ⇛ Location and Weather
Before going anywhere far or to an unknown territory, always do research on the area and the weather around the environment. Most likely if you are camping in the hills or mountains it would be very cool and there might be rain or snow. So it would be a good idea to prepare for the weather. However, if the weather conditions are dangerous, do not take the risk; postpone your camping event until a better day. Also if you really want a detail description of the camping common ground, make sure you do your research on whether they offer RV parking or if there are toilets available to use. Some camp grounds even offer free shower places, but some require you to pay for a certain amount of time. Therefore it is good to search up the types of camping ground before you enter in the area.

Step 4 ⇛ Types of Clothes and Supplies
While camping and hiking around, you want to be in comfortable clothes wear that can protect and keep you warm. Again it all boils down to the type of area that you are camping or what the weather conditions are like. Make sure to wear the appropriate attire for the right conditions and setting. For example if you are going to an area with a lot of bugs, you might want to cover your body more. Also with great hiking boots or shoes can lead to happy feet at the end of the day. When you are packing your clothes keep in mind to pack for what you need to shelter yourself. For example you might want to do a rain check and bring a sleeping bag, a tent, a pot/pan, utensils, and extra accessories that you might need to make the experience more memorable.

Step 5 ⇛ Gear and Emergency Items
Camping on unknown ground could be very dangerous. So make sure you bring a first aid kit because you would never know what will happen. Bring matches, a flare, a survival knife, or anything that can aid you. Also bring ropes and necessary gear that can be of use.

Step 6 ⇛ Enjoy you Trip!
Lastly talk it over with your family and prepare emergency procedures just in case you guys have to act. Finally enjoy your well prepare trip and make memorable memories! You might want to bring a camera to snap that story in your life. Have fun camping happy campers!

  1. Camping is a big part of my family’s life and, as John points out, a great way to spend quality time with loved ones.

The general theme of this blog was preparedness which I believe to be essential in order to have a successful camping trip. Know where you’re going, know what you’re eating, know how to dress, and how to account for unexpected situations. This blog would be very useful for someone looking to try out camping for the first time.

Some additional information a potential camper might want to know what are the different types of campsites they might find at a campground; ex. RV or tents, vault toilets or flush toilets, no potable water or has a pool and laundry facility.

I’ve really been looking forward to the weather cooling down so that I can take a weekend to go escape into the hills. Reading this blog has added to that desire to get back out there as soon as possible.

  2. Well-written and thorough, this is a strong blog for anybody who has literally no experience camping. That said, I think a little more could have been said about food. Camping food needs to fulfill a unique set of needs, which are more than just being delicious. Providing some framework for how to set a camping menu would have been helpful for anybody looking to step up their camping game.
