How to Hike

Though going on a long and difficult hike might just seem easy and on the moment decision, it doesn’t really happen that way. It does require a bit of planning beforehand. And if you are just a beginner stepping your foot out in the hiking for the very first time there are some key steps that you will need to cross off your list.

Step 1: Deciding the length of your hike.

The first process of hiking plan beings with deciding how long you are going to hike. If you are just a beginner and have difficulty in walking long distances, then you will need to plan a short hike. If you have some medical conditions like asthma, you will need to be careful of your physical limitations.

Step 2: Researching about your destination

So now that you have decide how long you want to hike, next thing you do is decide a location. After listing out you possible destinations you will need to do some research about it. From which point you will begin your hike, if there are any trail or if you will require a map. Depending upon the length of your hike, you will also need to check if there are any lodging accommodations or any stores along the way. Some of the best hiking destinations in LA are: the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory, Corral Canyon, Culver City, Echo Mountain.

Step 3: Checking the weather forecast

Checking the weather for the period of your hike is important. Only then will you be able to decide on what you need to pack and wear to have a comfortable hiking experience. Is it going to be hot? If so can you walk in that temperature without getting sick later? Or is it going to rain? If it does, will the trail be slippery that you might get injured, or will the trail close because of dangerous roads.

Step 4: What to wear

Depending on the weather conditions, you might need to pack a sweater or a hat. Wear the most comfortable shoes that you’ve got. You wouldn’t want a sore foot at the end of the day. Try wearing full sleeved clothes if you are going through a jungle or caves to prevent from insect bites or cuts and bruises.

Step 5: What to carry along

No matter how long your trip is, do not forget to carry water. Since you will be performing a physical task, you might get dehydrated. Pack your sunglasses and your sunscreen or your umbrella or a raincoat depending on the weather. If you need some insect repellent cream, throw them in your backpack. And don’t forget to pack a bit of snacks for the way.

  2. hiking is an amazing experience that requires a lot of exercise but over all this blog really helps to think more in depth of the type of equipment that I would need if I ever decide to go hiking and some precautions to take. I think that this blog covers all the important topics needed in order to go for a hike but try to connect to the audience more like some examples or some destinations you would like to include.
