How To Box
Boxing is considered the most challenging of all sports. Many people consider boxing a brutal sport and it is brutal but the advantages are that it is a great workout and not only that but also, it makes you feel powerful and glorious in victory. The following are some basic guidelines for beginners.
Equipment needed:
- boxing gloves
- boxing boots
- headgear
- mouth guard
- trunks
- heavy bag
Step 1: Commit to Rigorous Training Regimen
When boxing, you have to get used to the following three main exercises: Cardiovascular exercises, Core exercises, and weight training. Keep in mind that before entering a ring you need 3 to 6 months of training.
Step 2: Learn Boxing Fundamentals
A proper stance will help you throw powerful punches. For example, if you are right-handed, your left foot must be in front of you at a 45 degree angle from your opponent. Also your left heel should line up with your right toe and most of your weight should be on your back foot. Remember to keep your chin down at all times.
Step 3: Practice Punching
Practice punching is very important before stepping on the ring. You can practice on a heavy bag or practice shadow-boxing. Before doing punching combinations you are going to need to master the four punching methods which are jab, cross, hook and uppercut.
Step 4: Learn Taking and Blocking Punches
Boxing is not only about throwing punches but also about taking and blocking punches. Parry is the most basic defensive technique in boxing in which you just use your hands to slap your opponents punches down as they arrive. Slip is another technique you use when your hips and shoulders rotate as your opponent throws a punch.

I am not a boxer nor do I watch boxing. I am fairly if not completely unrelated to the subject of boxing. I think you might be expecting a little too much of complete beginners when it comes to boxing. I was fairly confused when going through the blog. However, I do feel that the blog would be understandable to someone with some prior knowledge about boxing and looking for some extra help.
ReplyDeleteI feel to improve your blog, you can go into more detail about the basics. For example, when listing off the equipment, you could also give a brief description. Like gloves, howl heavy should my starting gloves be. What kind of headgear should I have. And also, wth hand tape, it is rather confusing to put it on and most people who are beginners would rather skip the hassle because they do not know the purpose to using the equipment stated.
For the stance, I like how you took notice to the lower body, because most beginners completely neglect this. However, I was confused on where exactly to put my hands.
For the punches, could you provide a diagram and an explanation on how to perform these maneuver. Also an exercise regiment to practice these. While you did list off the types of punches, as a novice to the subject, I had no idea what you were talking about.
Overall, to improve your blog, I would put in more visuals and go more into details about the basics.
